Police testimony in skier assa

Michael D. Collins confers with his attorney, Michael Thompson, during a break in Tuesdays trial.

---

His face was split open and his eyes were swollen shut. Strapped to a medics gurney, Kevin Tracey could barely talk, managing only the words: Two men... they took my truck. Then they beat me up.

Oh boy, he was bad, Skamania County sheriffs Deputy Steve Rasmussen recalled, referring to his encounter with Tracey, a cross- country skier who was clubbed and strangled on Feb. 9, 2009. They beat him within an inch of his life.

Rasmussen was the first officer to respond to Dougan Falls near the Washougal River. He interviewed Tracey as he was being treated by emergency personnel.

The deputys testimony Tuesday afternoon came on the second-day of Michael D. Collins trial in Skamania County Superior Court. The Vancouver-area man, 34, is charged with first-degree attempted murder and first-degree robbery.

Several witnesses testified for the prosecution Tuesday. The state hopes to wrap up its case today with testimony from Teven Collins, Michael Collins 17-year-old son, who was also charged in the attack. On Friday, Teven Collins pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of second-degree attempted murder in exchange for his testimony against his father.

The father and son were featured on Americas Most Wanted, and investigators used a tip generated from the TV show to arrest them last March in Ensenada, Mexico.

Replica IWC Watches Rasmussens gripping details drew objections from Collins attorney, Michael Thompson, who said the deputy was too sensational and his information was not supported by his police report.

Theres nothing about blood and guts in this (police) report, Thompson said. Hes embellishing it like hes (horror novelist) Stephen King.

Thompson renewed his objections when Skamania County sheriffs Detective Tim Garrity next took the stand.

Garrity testified that one of the Collinses had admitted to using credit cards belonging to Tracey after allegedly stealing the victims wallet and fleeing in his SUV.

That information was not disclosed in a police report and was hearsay, Thompson contended.

I think the last two officers have gone over the line, he said to Judge E. Thompson Reynolds. What we have here is a well-meaning, overzealous attempt to get Michael Collins.

Thompson then called for Reynolds to declare a mistrial. The judge denied the request, saying there was no evidence the testimony would result in an unfair trial. And any information that was hearsay, the judge said, was stricken from the record.

Continuing with his testimony, Garrity told the jury that Michael Collins had admitted to investigators to having a confrontation with Tracey. But, the detective said, Collins claimed it was because Tracey had accosted Teven Collins and not the other way around.

He told me that he and his son, Teven, had been camping Replica Blancpain Watches at the Dougan Falls area, Garrity said. He said Teven was talking to a man with a black SUV. He told me that Tracey grabbed Tevens groin and a fight ensued. And that they left in his vehicle.

Tracey had provided a much different account, saying the men approached him and asked for directions before robbing him and beating him senseless.

Police to investigate 14-year-

A POLICE investigation has been launched after a 14-year-old schoolgirl reportedly appeared as a lap dancer in a Weston-super- Mare nightspot.

The girl, who is believed to go to school in the seaside resort, had told her mother she was staying overnight at a friend's house but instead was spotted dancing at the Shadow Lounge in Regent Street.

The club claims she arrived last Thursday night saying she was 18 and looking for work at the nightspot, which was looking to recruit pole and lap dancers.

It is claimed the teenager, who has not been named, was drinking vodka at the club and had performed pole dances wearing a black basque, stockings and suspenders. It is also alleged that she stripped naked behind a glass screen as men watched.

She was reportedly seen taking a man in his 30s to a tiny curtained-off cubicle for a Pounds 20 'private dance', which can involve dancing naked very close to a customer.

According to The Sun newspaper, she later took one man into the mirrored cubicle where lap dancers put on private one-to-one shows.

Another 14-year-old girl, who claimed to be 19, was with her for 'moral support'. That girl was not seen performing any private dances.

The Shadow Lounge - a former snooker hall - closed at 3am, when the schoolgirls left with two older dancers and returned to a flat rented by the older girls.

When asked about the incident, the girl's mum claimed she had no idea her daughter was at the club and said she thought she had been out with a friend.

She said: "It's disgusting. I thought she was out staying with a friend for the night."

Next evening the schoolgirls were seen being refused admission to bars and clubs for being under age.

Club manager, Jesus Rodriguez-Casas, 31, said the girl had showed door and office staff a national identity card. He added changes were now under way to increase the age for people visiting and working at the club from 18 to 21.

And he said any dancer wanting to work would now have to produce a driving licence and passport.

Mr Rodriguez-Casas, known as JR, told the Evening Post: "We were advertising for dancers and she came in looking for a job.

"She showed her ID to three different people in the club. We said the ID was not good enough for us and that she had to bring better ID in.

"She did not have anyone's permission to dance but she was allowed to stay and watch how the club is run because at that point we believed she was 18 years old.

"If I knew she was not 18 she would not have been allowed in the club as we have a strict over 18s only policy.

"We later discovered she did dance but they never took any money and they were never paid, not from us at all "It was very busy in the club and she may have sneaked off to dance, but did not have our permission. This girl lied to her mother about where she was going and also lied to us."

The club, which has been based at Regent Street for six years, employs 12 dancers.

Mr Rodriguez-Casas, a 31-year-old father of seven, said: "We have never had a problem like this before. Many bars and clubs however have problems with under-age drinkers trying to get in and it seems easy for teenage

Hearing delayed for Melody Ros

LONG BEACH - A preliminary hearing was delayed Thursday for two alleged gang members charged in the slaying of a Wilson High School honor student following her school's homecoming game last fall.

Alleged gunman Tom Love Vinson and his co-defendant, Daivion Davis, both 16, are charged with first-degree murder for the Oct. 30 killing of Melody Ross, also 16.

The charge against Vinson and Davis includes two counts of attempted murder for the wounding of two other men following the football game and includes a special circumstance allegation that the shooting was carried out to benefit the defendants' Sexy Costumes gang.

Because of the special circumstance allegation, Vinson and Davis face the possibility of life without parole if convicted on all counts, according to prosecutors.

Both teens have pleaded not guilty and are being tried as adults in the high profile case.

Their preliminary hearing was postponed Thursday and rescheduled for April 15, according to court staff.

Vinson and Davis are accused of shooting into a crowd of hundreds of people streaming out of the gates of Wilson High School at about 10 p.m. following Wilson's homecoming game against Poly High school.

Ross, an innocent bystander, was standing next to the Wilson campus on Ximeno Avenue, between Seventh and Tenth streets, Bulgari Replica Watches when she was hit in the side by a single round. She was pronounced dead at a local hospital, police said.

The two Long Beach men, one 18 and the other 20, also hit by the gunfire who survived are believed to be gang rivals of Vinson and Davis and were the intended targets of the shooting, police said.

Ross' killing galvanized many in the community, with local leaders and individuals rallying behind the girl's family in Sexy Dresses the wake of her tragic death.

However, last week's decision by the family to file a wrongful death claim against the city and the Long Beach school district has sparked some backlash against the Ross family.

As of Thursday, no such filing had been made with either the school district or the city, officials said.

Christie's appraisers on the h

Watch appraiser Doug Escribano from the Christie's auction house in New York City will be Downtown on Tuesday and Wednesday looking for timepieces to consign for sale.

But he admits many of the watch owners who schedule an appraisal are simply trying to find out how much that suspected heirloom really is worth.

"Pittsburgh is a new (appraisal) venue for us, and they are good, because many times, people have watches and have no idea how valuable they can be."

The watches tend to be those from makers such as Sexy Camisoles Patek Phillipe, Panerai, Rolex and Vacheron Constantin, but also can be mechanical marvels from several hundred years ago, he says

Christie's auctions watches at four major sales a year: in Dubai, New York City, Hong Kong and Geneva. In 2009, he says, the firm sold $88 million in watches at those events.

Many times, he says, people with $300,000 watches know they have an expensive possession, but there are many others who have no idea of their worth.

He says those less costly watches can end up not being worth consigning for auction. Because of insurance and auctioning fees, the net profit could make the sale fruitless.

Bulgari Replica Watches

"I would hate to take a watch and have someone end up with a check for $450," he says.

At past appraisals, Escribano has found watches that have sold for more than $700,000, but even that is not extraordinarily high. Watches upward of $1 million are not unusual, and Christie's has sold one for $4 million.

The appraisals will be 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Residences Sales Center of Howard Hanna Real Estate. Hanna is a partner of Christie's Great Estates, which is a subsidiary of Christie's. The sales center is at Two PNC Plaza, Downtown.

Grudge match' was over before it really began

LARAMIE, WYO. -- So that's how you take the drama out of an emotional rematch.
You treat it like another routine stop on your route. You let opponent get meaningless touchdown in the last quarter. Oh, and when the lead gets really big, for heaven's sake, DON'T try an onside kick.
Saturday at windblown War Memorial Stadium, Utah wiped out Wyoming, 40-7. That makes it a two-year total score of 90-7. Not good for interstate relations, but a heck of a deal for the winner.
Nothing builds confidence like annihilation.
If you're waiting for the Utes to play the ever-elusive complete game, stop right there. They managed just two offensive touchdowns and totaled only 242 yards.Chopard Replica Watches
These guys are never going to operate like a Rolex for a whole game. Rather, they're going to do some nice stuff, stub their toes and keep on grinding. That's in large part due to a sporadic offense. The Utes converted on just four of 17 third-down conversions and didn't score off its offense in the last 26 minutes. Didn't matter.
Considering the margin of victory, feelings couldn't be terribly good between Utah and Wyoming, these days. Nevertheless, Saturday's "grudge match" didn't turn out to be much of anything. It was the same as last year, minus the piling on and the obscene gestures. Otherwise, SSDY -- Same Score, Different Year.
"That was all behind us, no question, a dead issue," said Ute coach Kyle Whittingham. "We've moved on. You make a mistake -- in my case -- and you move on. I don't think that was a factor at all this year."
The Cowboys shot themselves in the foot -- or the Utes pounced, depending on perspective -- enough times in the early going that there was never a chance to Sexy Lingerie get stoked. They fumbled on the opening kickoff, but recovered for the touchback. They threw an interception on their second possession, which turned into a touchdown; fumbled on a third possession. They had a punt blocked for a touchdown and threw another interception.
All totaled, Utah scored one touchdown on an interception, one on a blocked punt and a third on a fumble recovery.
Offense? When you're playing Wyoming, who needs it?
By the half it was 27-0, and the best idea of all was to get out of town before the storm blew in. High winds unhinged signs on the sidelines and chased fans from the stadium.
By halftime the crowd looked like the population of Ten Sleep: around 300.
"Wind from start to finish," said Whittingham.
It's not like the Utes had a lot to worry about. Wyoming has just two wins on the season, one over Ohio, the other against small fry North Dakota State. The Cowboys have lost their last four games by a score of 153-23 and their four MWC games by a combined score of 131- 10.
Utah has defeated Wyoming in nine of the last 10 games.
And you thought Wyomingite Dick Cheney has taken a thrashing over the years.
Yet in a way, Utah's flaws this year gave the Cowboys hope. The two teams have the most turnovers and have given up the most sacks in the MWC. Besides, last time Utah was in Laramie, the Cowboys walked off with a win.
Thus, until kickoff, Saturday's game held more interest than it should have. Last year, Utah tried an onside kick with a 43-0 lead. That led Cowboy coach Joe Glenn to send Utah coach Bulgari Watches Kyle Whittingham a one-fingered howdy-do. Glenn, of course, started it all by guaranteeing a win the previous week.
In Glenn's defense, he said it to a small group of boosters. Thanks to the magic of the Internet, it was soon in the public domain.
This year was more civil, but not a whole lot closer. The Cowboys didn't score until the deficit had grown to 34-0. Meanwhile, the "grudge match" never really materialized. Utah had subs coming in by the early fourth quarter. Besides, with Wyoming struggling as it has, there wasn't much energy for settling scores.
Like anything in life, it's hard to be mad when you're struggling to stay alive.
