A JEWELLER accused of stealing thug boxing tycoon Barry Hughes' pounds 200,000 Rolex collection has been scarred for life in a knife attack.

John Reid, 43, had his face rebuilt by surgeons following the horrific attack in Glasgow city centre.

Reid is being sued by Hughes over claims he took the fight promoter's watches to sell but failed to hand over any cash. Just one of the watches- made of platinum and encrusted with diamonds - is worth about pounds 100,000.

Last week, we told how Reid was Chopard Replica Watches abducted by a four-strong gang in Scotland, beaten up then dumped in Manchester on June 25.

The street snatch in Elderslie, Renfrewshire, sparked a police hunt amid fears Reid was going to be executed.

Wheeler dealer Reid suffered the blade attack five weeks later on August 3. Hughes claims he gave the watches to Reid to sell on eight months ago but is still awaiting payment.

His lawyers have taken action at Paisley Sheriff Court to freeze two properties owned by Reid, from Johnstone. At a hearing at the court on Monday, Reid did not appear.

Earlier this year, Hughes was convicted of taking part in a knife attack that almost killed a clubber.

Zenith Watches Strathclyde Police are probing Reid's attack and the abduction. They said: "A 43-year-old man was assaulted on August 3 in Glasgow and taken to the Southern General Hospital where he was treated for facial injuries. Inquiries are ongoing."
